2025 Congress

The 13th Biennial Congress of the International Eosinophil Society (IES) was held in Montpellier, France from 7-11 July 2025 and brought together 287 attendees from 26 countries—making it the largest  and most internationally diverse IES Congress to date.

The week began on Monday with a full-day “Pre-Meeting Clinical Workshop” focused on Novel Tools for Translational Research in Rare Eosinophil-Associated Diseases, followed by the “Eosinophils 101,” an introductory session for early career attendees. The Congress officially opened that evening with a welcome session and reception at the historic Faculté de Médecine Montpellier.

Over five days, the program featured sessions covering basic, translational, and clinical science, including keynote lectures and award presentations:

  • Gerald J. Gleich Award Lecture: Joseph Jorssen & Glenn Van Hulst
  • Lifetime Achievement Award Lecture: Hans-Uwe Simon & Dagmar Simon
  • Translational Research Award: Seema Aceves
  • Paul Ehrlich Award Lecture: Steven Ackerman

Additional highlights included Poster Sessions, Roundtable Discussions, Technology & Techniques presentations, and Pro/Con Debates.

Trainees and early career investigators benefited from targeted sessions including Eosinophils 101, Lunch with a Mentor, the Early Career Booth, and a networking reception. Poster Session Receptions offered time for informal discussions and connections.

A special highlight this year was Dr. Rossana Melo’s Eosinophil Portraits – 2nd Edition, a captivating collection that brought eosinophils to life through art. In addition to the new eosinophil artwork, the expanded collection that now included mast cells.

The week concluded with the IES Awards Dinner. Congratulations to this year’s award winners:
